The SB2 lives
Re: The SB2 lives
Just your average street motor that could run an old Chevelle even with a Winston Cup car, right?
That's an awesome buildup. Something I would love to try to do myself, but I doubt I have the skill. I like to tell myself I could do it but realistically...... no.
Before you go racing for real please slap that thing in an old Nova or something at go get some street action- preferrably on video so we can all watch people's eyes fall out of their heads.

That's with 20/50W oil and 116 race gas through mufflers. Vacuum pump was pulling a little under 9". There's probably 30-40 left on the table as it sits. Merge collectors would increase that by a good amount. I may experiment with them. Right now it has straight 4" collectors. We are going to save the final tune for the chassis dyno. I also believe the smallish bore is going to hold this back a little so I'll be able to get the 750 I wanted when it's all said and done.
To say that I'm happy is an understatement. The motor made 400lb/ft @ 3000 and made peak torque @ 5200 but it carried that number all the way to 7300. That's unheard of. My engine guy said it's the flatest tq curve he's ever seen.
It should be good for 9.90's on the motor and then there's that 300 hit of spray

Re: The SB2 lives
congratulations on an awesome build! ive watched this beast come all the way on this board.Glad to see theres an exotic combo thats gonna get big track time instead of just posing for mag shoots and idling at the drive in.
You need to get a shirt made that says "No, its not a big block" for when you have the hood up in the pits and people come to gawk. that'll save you some time.
So after the 300 shot gets you out of the hole, what are you gonna have the 2nd stage at?

as some people out here say ""mad props yo""

Re: The SB2 lives
Thank you all. I appreciate all of you how have helped along the way and given words of encouragement then and now.
Brett, I agree but I think we're gonna leave it alone. Timing is set at 32 degrees right now and I think that's a good start. It has a restrictor plate intake on it that's been ported heavily and flows good but I think the lack of plenum volume is hurting it. Plus the cam is a nitrous cam so I'm giving a little N/A away there as well. Maybe we'll see another 10-20 horses once it's in the car with the proper weight oil and some other issues worked out but I think what I'm looking at is what it's going to be. I'm going to try some spacers if hood clearance allows.
I saw a full pull in person today and I can't even begin to describe it. It was simply the most violent thing I've ever seen. It's tough to watch your massive investment screaming at close to 8000 rpm right in front of your face. Makes me wonder if I shouldn't have gotten bigger tires
I'll post the video of it in a few minutes.

Yeah you should meet the numbnutz that helped me put the cage it it
Seriously, I already had a good LT1 block with work done to it not to mention the crank so I figured I'd give this a try. Plus I want to see just how fast I can make an LT1 6 speed go. Ultimately a stronger motor will be built from a Little M and the heads will be converted back.

BAM!
There it is.
Dave, there's some power being left on the table somewhere but you already know that. Doesn't take away from the fact that it's going to be a screamer.
And who was it saying that a head like this would not make power turning less than 7500 rpm? IMO, they're just about perfect for your run of the mill
7000-7500 rpm stroker builds.
Congrats Dave!
Now I gotta get my heap together........

Re: The SB2 lives
Did you switch throttle bodies for comparison? I had been following and was curious what happened...
Awesome numbers tho! That is just great
. It seems like there are way too many "my stroker runs like crap" threads instead of "my new motor is gnarly!" threads like this one. Uh oh, I may have just showed my pubescent age
.
