i honestly can't believe these things were cnc'ed...period! obviously gone through by hand.
Re: #'s on my AFR 227 ported A.R.E. heads
They could have been CNC'd and then hand ported, you'd never know. The hand porting could have hurt more then helped. One way to find out is to CC the heads and see what the intake CC is. Your 227's could be around 230 cc intake.
On a side note we just CC'd my AFR 220's that have been ported a bunch. The intake came out right at 220 CC's. They flow around 315 CFM @ 700. Now that's really good for the intake CC runner size.

Taner, I had the same shock when i had mine reflowed and re-ported. Nick had done minimal port work they only flowed about 280 on the intake and about 190 on the exhaust. If you find a good head porter you should get well over 300 on the intake and close to 230 on the exhaust. You can see from my sig it woke it up a bit. T

very true, tony knows what i am talking about. hell yeah the n2o will surely benefit from the ability exit the motor as quickly as it is being pumped in! lol!!!
Tony,
i have to give you a call!
my exhaust ports = fountain straws!

. it is obvious they were hand worked but that is it.

i know there is a bit of variation from flow bench to flow bench but damn! that is just out to lunch! Pete at ARE offered to "fix" the heads, but i am sorry I can't take the chance of seeing what they come out like after they have at them again.
they shouldn't have been that bad.. i think.
with the addition of the Hogan's sheet metal intake i hope it helps the car on motor a fair bit, oh almost forgot the bigger primary tube headers.
interesting enuff tidbit... my home ported/raised roof LT4 intake flow 265 cfm from 500 lift to 700 lift. and i only had a 1.5 cfm difference from the front to rear runners. i know of one other person actually doing what i did with the lt4 intake flowed on the heads and he saw 260 cfm through the intake.
the person flowing the intake is Barry Maskery, an old school engine builder. he is sorta kinda well known in thes parts

MY ARE 227’s (all $4,000.00 American Dollars of them) flowed pretty close to what yours did (285 cfm max intake and 188 max exhaust) The guy screwed me on a whole bunch of other things before I got a clue as to what was going on.
So don’t feel like the Lone Ranger here. I won’t go into my usual rant, but Nick and a bunch of the other ARE lowlife’s should be in jail.
The boy sure did talk the talk didn’t he? I was promised 320 cfm and 500 rwhp NA. Promised!
Re: #'s on my AFR 227 ported A.R.E. heads
My new AFR 220 's Ported by Craig Gallant (GTP)on the intake are over 300cfm by .500 lift intakes
230cfm by .500 lift exhaust
I wont tell ya where they are at any of my cam specs but these are a badass set of heads
P>S its a 223 cc port

Please spare us and don't tell cam spec's. We are not worthy.
I've been disappointed hearing people have had problems with GTP heads as I honesthy do like Craig. But for years I wanted him to do some AFR's for me, he kept wanting to do LT4's instead and that's why I had ARE do some for me. So ya think that was a bad move maybe???
Great flow numbers and I won't tell you my cam spec's either. Did you have them flowed afterwards or these the numbers included with the heads?

I think you should send them to Lloyd for some porting, all I can say is I have 2 sets of LT1 heads ported by him and he's awesome!
Check out this thread and what he did to AFR 210's that were bare, all for under 2k I bevelive it cost the guy for cores and have lloyd do the porting:
