I was told my a local racing engine shop that sleeving a block is no problem. I dont see a problem in it either, as long as its done right.

How much oval

Re: Resleeve No4 cylinder?

oval = not round

Because the press the new sleeve down, it will affect the other cylinders shape and they will probably get oval...........the question is how much, and will it affect?

Ahh. Id assume the sleeve will be pressed in before boring and honing. If the cylinders did get a little egg shaped, that would be fixed when it is honed and/or bored.

Re: Resleeve No4 cylinder?

I have sleeved all 8 cylinders on chevy 350s, but I used sleeves that had a shoulder at the top and a counter bore in the block, I believe it makes a stronger top deck. most sleeve operations put the shoulder at the bottom of the bore and th sleeve sets down to the shoulder, but the top deck then can start to flex,lose gasket seal, especially at 40 psi boost. that said if you are going to get serious a better block might be considerd. thanks RON

Re: Resleeve No4 cylinder?

The block is a Motown.... No4 cyl has cracked below the piston, when the piston is at the bottom you could see the crack just above the top...

Will take it to a enginebuilder and see what they says about it.........
