Post Your Automotive Resumes Please!
Just curious about your background in automotive.
I see many regulars in this forum with a good grasp on 'everything'.
I have a highschool automotive program behind me. Some basic
Physics and College level Electronics.
For the last four years, I worked in a ProShop "on and off" weekends and summers.
Since I was 16, the opportunity was there for minor vehicle maintenance. At age 20, I started drag racing (just over 10 years now)
and rebuilding motors for the last seven years.
Aside from that, a membership to National Dragster, and a few
excellent books at my side:
- Scientific Design of Exhaust and Intake Systems
- Automotive Mechanics and Engine Technology
- GM Shop Manual for Camaro/Firebird
All of this and I don't make a dent in this forum!
How did you get so smart?!
Now is the time to download your brain. Type away!

It's not about advanced tech, it's about the people who post within
advanced tech.
I didn't know if this would cause a problem with the regulars wanting
to disclose their backgrounds. It may cause an influx of e-mails
to personal accounts asking for help.
As long as the viewers treat the forum as they have been, I thought
it would be a good method to learn more about everyone.
If it's a problem, move it. I don't see a big issue as I'm addressing
the forum regulars; not talking about "Bob smith in LT1 Tech".

A resume or CV (curriculum vitae) doesn't necessarily imply useful knowledge, or the ability to communicate it.
Z28SORR makes a good point. I resemble that remark!
A forum is a place or opportunity for open discussion. Sometimes off the wall ideas, while not always reasonable, or even possible, spark interesting and useful discussion.
A poster's profile sometimes says a lot, sometimes not. I tend to read them when I get interested in their posts.
My $.02

Here's mine....
Racing Briggs & Stratton powered go-carts since 3rd grade. Broke my first one about 1/2 an hour after I got it. Had to learn how to fix it. Grandfather on my mother's side taught me my basic mechanical engine knowlege and that German attention to detail- old world craftsmanship stuff (thanks, Grandfather). That go-cart eventually went more than 50 MPH.
Age 14- built my first 350 Chevy. For my next-foor neighbor's Nova. His name was Mike and he was 16. Did big hairy burnouts around the neighborhood until the neighbors called our parents. I was bit by the hotrod bug bad. I was even more amazed that a motor I had built with my own 2 hands actually RAN.
Flash forward 21 years and here I am. Probably 40 cars and several hundred engines later. I still think brains, expereince and attention to detail beats cubic bucks most of the time. Something I HAVE to believe in since I have no bucks. My brainpower is also questionable. My attention to detail and experience is not.
It's a HOBBY. It's FUN. If I did it for a living I'd probably hate it.

Not saying I contribute alot to this forum, but here goes.
Grad of UTI in Houston(automotive)
Grad of Southeast College(electronics)
Dealership tech, heavy equipment mech, forklift tech for the past 12 years. Currently a dealership service advisor.
Built more than a few quick 5.0 stangs under my carport, including strokers, blowers, nitrous back in the mid 90's, when the 5.0 was the one to have, including my own( hell it was apart all the time changing stuff)
Besides all the above, I have learned more my Dad about the true inner workings of an engine and how to make power. He is teaching me about old school hp, I teach him about new technology and how to make power with EFI. He is a racer from way back.
To get smart listen to the old school guys, the basics of making horsepower are still the same as they were in the 60's, although the way it is done has evolved, CNC machines, chassis dynos etc. Listen to what they are trying to tell you, all those little small things they tell you to do, that you think they are crazy because they do them do make a difference.
With all that, I know just enough to ask good questions LMAO.

Info like you are asking for in the context of an Internet message board is likely to be exaggerated. Ever frequent the Lounge? Lots of guys there with 10" *****, over 6 feet of steel hard, superbly condtioned muscle. They date models, are superb drivers, and are tough guys. Mess with them and you are DEAD. They will either tear you apart with their ninja martial arts skills or use one of their many expensive firearms. Of course, they are excellent shots and generally skilled in all manner of mayhem. Etc.
IOW, I am not sure that you could rely much on what you read.

^ That's partly why I stay within the confines of Advanced Tech.
I think some people are missing my point, but that's cool. I just
feel like this forum is geared toward the, 'down and dirty" of motors
but little discussion about the people who drive the discussion.
Whether certain individuals want to embilish or not doesn't really bother me,
it was just an extension of my curiousity and possibly getting to
know all of you on a more personal level.
From the responses so far, I'm surprised this thread hasn't been
moved or deleted!
Bad idea on my part. Will one of the gracious moderators please
kill this thread and put me out of my misery?!

I thought it was a good topic. Some of you guy's need to relax. What's wrong in telling someone a little bit about your self (back ground). Most of us know already anyways.
