You'll notice I didn't think that was real likely. I was just spitballing.

Personally, I think that people underrate how much deceleration affects your ability to read a gauge. Not that it's dramatic, but your body DOES move and if the gauge is off to the side (as opposed to in the cluster right in front of you), the movement plus parallax can affect the reading.

Anyhow, I see what you mean about the thread being a moot point.
