Milling SBC intake ?

I put the heads on the motor and when I tried to put the intake on the ports and bolt holes are of by about .090 By my CAD drawings in order to make the bolt holes and ports to line up I would have to mill about .120 off of the sides and a little more off the bottom.

So my question is is it fairly common to be off that much on a zero decked and milled head combo? I left it at work with instructions hopefully it all woks out in the morning.

thanks

It's okay I have it bolted on and everything worked out the ports are even inline. I just don't beleave I had to take .120 off.

thanks

How much did you have milled off the heads? I'm wondering how my intake will line up with milled heads & stock deck height.

What angle is the intake mating surface to the deck mating surface? I'll see if I come up with the same thing you did...

I didn't measure the intake mating surface in comparison to the deck surface. The heads are a used set I got off of here and I'm not sure how much or how many ttmes they have been milled.

I measured the angle on the intake and made a drawing in cad to calculate how much I would have to take off. The ports of the intake were about .090 higher then needed.

So what was the angle that you measured on the intake, and how did you measure it?
