Micrometer question

Whats a good "feeling" on how the known blank should fit to calibrate the micrometer? I have is set to "0" when I can just barely slide the blank in and move it around, but it wont wiggle in-line with the sleeve and thimble.

I know how to read the measurement, but there are no write-ups I can find on the net to calibrate it?

Re: Micrometer question

Is your mic not a friction or ratchet style?

It should be able to slide in/out without force IF you are perfectly parallel with the centerline of the anvil. There should be a very slight resistance or friction.
