I don't think they are good for anything but NA or very light nitrous. If you held them in your hand, you could see why. They are very light and thin. This can be great or terrible. I would look at something thicker and heavier for FI.

Have not tried them in a chev application w/ boost. We have used them in the modular fords with 16+ psi and they work fine.

It's really dependent on the tune/ring gap - if the tune is right, a hyper piston will have no problem with 10lbs.

According to my engine builder, they should be ok, however; I'm going with custom Ross pistons w/Top fuel hard anodized coating for my 1200hp twin turbo set-up.

I would think they would be fine assuming you run the proper compression ratio. The forged piston is much more robust than the cast hypers.

Thanks for all the help. I'm going to buy them and get rolling. My machine shop rec. them for my setup, I just wanted to make sure that they will hold up.

I would not use them. I have only seen one set, they looked very nice. But as Seawolf said, they don't seem to have enough meat for a blower. Specifically, the top ring land did not seem thick enough. I am not familair with their line, they may make a heavier forging specifically for boost? Remember, you may be building a motor for low boost now, but what about next year?

I know, your right on. Problem is, my budget for the pistons/rings on my 383 is right around $625-I know it's low, but I have so much else to buy.
My machine shop said the bores are right at 4.031 and the Mahle requires a little more room so I can keep it .30 over. Any ideas or advice on a piston that you think is better for .30 over and the following:

standard Lt1 deck height-never touched
70cc+ heads
6.0 forged rods
3.75 eagle crank

Thanks a bunch!!

SRP 138103 is a -16cc inverted dome described as:
• 4032 low expansion high silicon aluminum
alloy heat treated to SRP specifications
• Ring land and crown thickness specifically
engineered for mild turbo, supercharged and
nitrous applications

I think it woukd fit your budget.

Pistons

Those pistons would be fine with the right compression. It sounds like you are not boosting that hard anyway so they will be perfect for your setup. Once you feel the need for more boost (which will also come with the understanding of a bigger budget), then I would go with a set of blower pistons and maybe a higher compression ratio depending on how you feel about running alcohol but thats well into the future. So far you are headed in the right direction and hopefully I will be boosting soon myself (whenever the money allows me to).
