machine wok help

im buildin a 388
(.060x3.750) any ways the machine shop asked me if i wanted a standard bore and hone job($150) or bore and hone with a torqe plate($250) can someone feel me in on what that means and is it worth the extra 100 bucks. im goin for 550hp on motor and a lil shot of NOS its a street/strip car (1988 camaro)

Definately get the torque plate. When you torque down the heads and all associated equipment the bores shift a little, the torque plate simulates this so the bore is truer to the situations that the cylinders will see in real life rather than a situation with no stresses on the block as in a normal bore.

Get the TQ Plate hone, you can tell a block that has not been honed that way after running it by the shadows that show up on the cylinder walls, at even points matching the locations of the head bolt holes.
