LT1 TFS head issue...bad casting?
Re: LT1 TFS head issue...bad casting?
Got the heads to TFS and it turned out to NOT be an issue with the heads. It was actually a odd issue with the rockers studs not seating correctly in the bosses. They are fixed now and on the way back to Speed Inc. Thanks again to Larry and the crew at Speed Inc for the high level of quality control and to Artie and his crew at TFS for taking the time to examine the parts and figure out a solution. Both TFS and Speed Inc put the customer first and the help from TFS customer service is first class. Both are top notch companies to work with

Hmm, thats odd. But I am glad to hear they helped you out with the problem. You should try to get some more info on teh specific problem here and post up. I am sure many people are curious and it could help someone out at a later date.
BTW, I think I am going to buy a set of TF heads in the near future. Its nice to know they stand behind their work!
Props to both Speed Inc and TF!

It HAD to be the threads cut wrong.

Re: LT1 TFS head issue...bad casting?
I spoke with Trick Flow and was informed that the problem was due to the rocker studs not having a shank under the hex portion to locate the guideplate.
I can't visualize how that would cause the rocker stud to deviate from vertical (in relation to the threads), but they said installing studs with a shank underneath the base hex portion solved the problem. (they also measured all of the cylinder head dimensions which were correct).

Obviously total bull $hit, but oh well. Of course the guys at Trick Flow can't say, "..........yeah, we screwed up these heads when we were machining the rocker stud bosses.........."
I'm willing to bet that there are more than just this pair out there floating around with the same issues. Sad, but this is the typical quality slide associated with a good company that's purchased by a much larger company. *cough* *cough* Summit Racing *cough* *cough*
