I still have no updates on the issue as of yet except that the guideplates did not take care of the issue as predicted. I hope TFS has a solution to this.

Re: LT1 TFS head issue...bad casting?

That rotts... I was hoping it would but I just didnt think there was much chance of it being corrected by a guide plate. There isnt much involved with the alignment of rockers. Guideplate control where the rocker tip goes side to side and the rocker position is controlled by the length of the pushrod. If roller tip is not sitting flush on the valve you have one of 3 problems from what I can tell.

first the rockers are or have been machined wrong... you said they tried a different brand also so that is not the problem.

second is the valve stem itself being machined wrong...

third is the rocker stud bores were missaligned when they arer machined. I still find it hard to belive that both heads had the same problem and as of now TFS has not heard of any other problems. (But its not impossible)

Thas all I can think of that would cause this situation. I hope TFS and the shop get the probelm resolved. Let us know what happens..

I had the same problem with my AFR heads. We ended up cutting and welding the guideplates so they lined up...

This does not appear to be related to the guideplates at all. Rocker is slightly leaning even with TFS guideplates.

Did TFS say when you could expect a response from them?

Re: LT1 TFS head issue...bad casting?

Well I took the pics at Speed INC on weds night. They told me they would pull the heads and ship them thurs or fri. Hopefully TFS will have them today or tomorrow. TFS or more specifically Artie seems genuinly concerned about the issue and told me he would "be on them like white on rice" as soon as he recieved them.

Re: LT1 TFS head issue...bad casting?

What are the chances that your studs are actually bent?

If they are bent, they would twist the trunion part of the rocker sideways, causing the roller tip to sit as yours are.

Can you pick up a set of different studs to try?

It might sound stupid, but everything else has been mentioned. I cant see TFS heads being that bad. I would think its something else defective.

Re: LT1 TFS head issue...bad casting?

Well the rockers all are off in one direction. They are brand new arp studs and they had been removed and reinstalled when they tried the different guide plates so if it were the studs odds are they would have seen a change when they reinstalled them as they would not sit exactly the same.
