Re: LT1 TFS head issue...bad casting?

Well I hope they investigate further if there still is any issue when they reassemble it again. It is a pretty big cam but nothing to outrageous. Little bit bigger then a gm847. Speed INC has the specs and I cannot remember them right now. That is the only thing I could think of. If it is bumping a pushrod tube then I would think 1.5 RR's would help here.

well thats just it thought. Even if the push rods were binding and the slim chance they overlooked it that still wouldnt make the rockers tilt. It would make them not center on the valve but not tilt.

I don't think it is a cam issue either. It is one of your customs. No issues with the brass drive gear on the oil pump drive? That is one thing that worries me.

No if you got that with the cam everything will be fine. Just make sure the trust clearance on the cam is fine and the timing chain is installed properly.

The heads were sent to Lloyd who disassembled cleaned/milled tested the heads. Everything looked ok to him on a stock shortblock. My block is different 0 decked much bigger cam etc. Speed INC will be back on the project shortly as it got moved back in rotation due to the head issue etc. I cannot expect them to hold up there shop waiting for the heads to get resolved. Lloyd said there fine and Speed is going to install them. The heads better work or Im selling everything and making my STi quick.

Ok, I understand that. I was just curious as we havent heard anything on this in a while. I'm putting my 355 together soon with TFS heads. I'll keep an eye out for any problems too.

Well it looks like it will be awhile yet. I decided to add a BS3 EM to the mix and a couple other add ons. I am having them take their time and get the car done by Feb as it would not benifit me in the middle of winter. So far the combo basics are: 383 Forged/billet lt1, TFS heads Lloyd Elliot port, Custom cam, LT4 ported intake, BS3 engine management, 72#'s, 3 Bar map, Custom Speed INC FMIC, D1SC with custom intake, dual walbro intank setup, DanaS60 rear, BMR kmember, Street twin and a bunch of other goodies.

Yes I hope so, though truthfully the better call would have been to go with a turbo kit by you. Can't beat dialing up the boost from the drivers seat! There is always next year.

I say CONSPIRACY!!!!

1) TFS sent Lloyd a different set of heads.

2) TFS payed Lloyd to port and deck the the "good" set of heads.

3) TFS payed Lloyd an additional MILLION to keep his mouth shut!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

I'm joking, i'm joking..............

C'mon, we need a laugh out of this thread!!

Good luck with that new motor, Randy!!
