LS1 PCM to control 4L80E in LT1 car

I was toying with the possiblity of installing an LS1 PCM in my 97 Camaro. Since the LT1 doesn't have a way to control this transmission I figured it might be possible to use an LS1 PCM and save some money over using an after market. I am using an Accel DFI system so my current LT1 PCM only controls the transmission. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

It looks like you already have a lot of money invested in your car. The TCI Transmission control would be the the perfect match. The software is very user friendly and offers things the GM computer can't. You can quickly changes programs from strip to street or even a special program for the dyno runs. I have had one on my Z for two years now. I like it so much, I bought another one for my 95 Tahoe. It is also better protection for you transmission.

Yes, I agree the TCI computer is the way to go. Unfortunately at this time I have about $3000 left to spend on this money pit. I will need to get cross member, drive shaft work, upgrade my torque arm to the BMR track pack, torque converter and then the tranny. I can get an LS1 computer next to nothing and was hoping I could get it to work until I could purchase the T-Com. Thanks for the input!

4L80E only comes in the Truck 2500 HD I think. I'm not sure how this would help you. I think you just have to run the TCI controller.

This guy uses a TCI controller for the 4L80E in his Vette. He has a pretty good web site:

I went with a manual valvebody and a ratchet shifter in mine because I like shifting. Plus it is a lot less expensive.
