Ok, I'm gonna bite. How are you going to install Infinity OHC heads on a SBC?

Mwa-ha-ha!

I had a thread about this just before I bought the heads.

The bore centers on the VH45 and VK45 nissan/infinite motors are about .009" off of the SBC. These are the "same" heads they used in the IRL cars.

The main problem as i'm sure you've guessed is the bolt pattern, it's a bit off. And a couple of them actually go into water passages.

The second biggest problem is the timing set.

I'm not the first to do this, though I very well may be the second.

Thanks for looking that one up

Yeah if you want to see one that's already bolted together take a look at Pete Aardema's page. I'm not sure if he has his running yet, I haven't talked to him in a while.

I guess if I tell too many people about this I may have some competition to be #2 on this, huh?

Edit: You'll see video mark, heck I'll stop by your house when I drive across county to show Pete

You're probably right, most people aren't crazy enough to attempt something so ridiculous. If it hadn't already been done I probably wouldn't have tried it.

I'll be sure to let you know, though with how long it takes me to get projects done it might be a while.

Ok

I went to that Aardema Development site - that guy is using Donovan blocks that don't have the deck drilled for bolt holes - But

He also makes a kool SOHC conversion for fords and Chevy's - Bolts to the regular head. Reminds me of the SOHC heads that Crane had back in the day.

NO pricing though?????????

I think he told me one time it would be $3000ish for the OHC conversion. Don't quote me though. I don't think he does those anymore though. This is more of a hobby for him and he got tired of doing the OHC kits.

Yeah he used a donovan block but he said if he did it again he wouldn't. I thought maybe he was using the blocks with no water jacket to avoid drilling into open air, but he said they had a full jacket on them. And that's really the main problem with the conversion.
