I say Spend the Money for a Hard Core world products 427 Crate motor and have them install lower CR pistons.(they will I have ask). this is like $12000 to your door.

Then Buy a GOOD blower kit and a FAST or what ever you will need.

This should leave you enough money for the first set of replacement pistons

You did say you were going to tune it your self right?

I get a headache just thinking about this, it's so open ended. You need to start with a some kind of a budget. Saying "1000hp" is arbitrary, and there are many ways to get there. You have to start with some kind of limits to the question or there are just too many possibilites. They main limit for most of us is $$$. No matter what, I will reiterate what some others have said: a reliable, streetable, pump gas SBC is approaching the impossible. Also, you will need to at least double your engine budget to come close to a cost for the total project.

Thumbs up

Yes, your project is rather open ended but still feasible as long as the money's there. You would need a great shortblock and some great heads and a major power adder as well. We are doing some stuff like this but streetable is another story!

what about the 1200hp 427" corvette? monty's car

i doubt the budget was even in the same league as the discussions here, but isnt it a reliable, streetable, pump gas sbc making 1200hp?

of course he wont be running 8's or 9's witht he car setup, the engine is certainly a work of art
