How to improve the flow on the stock LT1 manifold?
How to improve the flow on the stock LT1 manifold?
I have an extra LT1 intake manifold in my garage and I know someone who is an expert in welding aluminum.
He wants to know what he needs to do to get more flow out of it. Longer runners? Bigger diameter?

You can always do the typical welding above the injector bungs so you can have straight runners. No personal results from this, although I do have a manifold with this done, but I've heard that it's worth a little bit of power. Of course, the added material allows you to "shape" the port as well as just opening it up.

Thanx.
Thats the type of info I'm looking for.

I had been thinking recently of taking one of my spares and cutting the top off and smoothing everything very nicely inside where its impossible to reach then TIG the top back on. Only problem is keeping the inside clean during welding, but purging some argon in there should take car of that.

Thats from Squinns car. He also converts them for you if needed. I know he eventually switched over to a single plane intake, but believe he was still in the 9s NA with lt1 heads and that intake. Also believe that i read that he only saw gains over 7k rpms
