How to convert cam specs from .020 to .050

How do you convert the timing specs of a cam from .020 to .050

Hmm, that would be real tough to do. You could plot an approximation with enough data points but it's still just an educated guess.

It's tough because it depends on the lobe's acceleration rate. Different types of lobes have different acceleration rates... ie, solid flat tappet vs solid roller and/or max-area hydraulic vs you-name-it... They're all different, even among same type cams from different companies.

Have you thought about calling the cam company and asking for the information? Would probably be your best bet.

I see what you're saying. I didn't even think to call Comp Cams and ask them. Thanks for the heads up!!! DD2K and some of my DFI software ask for that info on a .050 measurement and the card I have shows a duration taken at .020 and the valve timing #'s are at .020
