Cam is the last thing to specify.
Have you lifted an iron BBC head lately? They make good wheel chocks for large airplanes.
Re: Help Pick a Set of BBC heads
Some 049 or 781 oval port iron heads work very well with some 2.19/1.88 valves installed in them. I ran some 781 heads for a couple of years until I dropped a valve. I went with some Merlin oval port iron heads for a few years after that.
For the majority of all racers out there who have an engine that stays well below 7000 rpm, they don't need large retangular port heads. Oval ports will work much better for most applications.
The best bang for the buck for aluminum heads is Canfield however the castings leave nothing for improvement. If you want some aluminum heads to hog out to ProStock sizes, pick up a set of Brodix. My current engine just got a set of Canfields however I don't get a chance to test them until May!
As mentioned above $2k doesn't get you very much for BBC heads. I don't even want to price out how much is invested in my aluminum heads
Canfield 310 heads
2.25/1.88 stainless valves
Titanium retainers with 10* locks
Triple springs (set for .800 lift) Cam only lifts to .722
Comp ProMagnum rockers
Reher Morrison stud girdle
