flow for lt1 heads

well, not sure if this belongs here, or general, or lt1 orwhereever, so mods, move it as you see fit

anyways, i plan on homeporting my lt1 heads (getting a practice set first) and then matching a cam to them
but i was wondering how i should port them so i wouldn't have to spin it that high
meaning, i still want some tq down low and with good top end but not have to spin it pas 6500 (on stock bottom end)
now i wanted to get about 400rwhp which is a pretty high estimate given that i haven't ported heads, and the goals i'm going for
so for keeping the tq, doesn't that mean i have to keep the velocity good at low rpms, and still have enough flow at high rpms?
i've got a book on it but i haven't read it all the way through yet (i believe it's david vizard on "small block chevy heads")
basically, i just want to know how i can get a good sized cam in my lt1, and still keep it from spinning way up high with my stock lt1 heads (like how would i port it to work?)

Re: flow for lt1 heads

1) Buy a pair of LE1 ported heads from Lloyd Elliott along with his LE1 cam.

2) Copy his porting EXACTLY. This will be a very hard job, and you'll need a flowbench to check your work.

3) Copy the cam EXACTLY. You'll probably need help here, also. A Cam Doctor might help.

4) Sell the LE1 heads and cam and recoup most of your initial investment.

OR

skip 2) and 3) and 4) above.
