Did the wreck involve a roll-over? If so, the EEC canister may be saturated with fuel, and you are pulling raw fuel into the intake when the purge operates.... or the purge may even be stuck open.
Also, check the fuel pressure regulator for a ruptured diaphragm.... that will feed raw fuel into the intake manifold.
Check the fuel pressure... accident may have damaged the fuel pressure regulator, or the fuel return line could be crimped, giving you excessive fuel rail pressure.
Suggestion - when you buy a car, even one that hasn't been in a wreck, change the oil BEFORE you do anything else......

car started
ok now i went outside just to see what the car would do and i hit the starter and it fired up and ran i tan like crap but it did start .anyways i cut it off went to restart it and now all i get is a huge backfire sounds just like a gun going off. ive checked the fire it seems to be good but how do i know if its enough? andways now all it does is that really lound bang.if i hold the gas half throttle and try and start i dont get the pop but it hits and acts like it wants to start if i give it no gas at all at the peddle i just get a extremyly lound pop
