Gen1 SBC conversion (again)

Ok, what I want is a stock looking (for the most part) 434+ cid motor.

So, what are my options here? Perferably, I'd like to use a Dart Little M block and aftermarket heads, maybe ported Brodix Track1?

So, how hard would it really be to get one started up? A standard dist. would fit right? How much would I have to hack the cowl to make it work?

Can I use a CSI/Meziere EWP with the stock heater, etc.?

Has anyone used a TPIS Mini-Ram on a 434+ and LTx-style TB? I want to keep a stock hood and keep it looking almost stock

Also, we do emissions here (just a visual and sniffer for OBD1 cars). I will hopefully be using DFI. So, could I pass with a non-radical solid roller in a 434 with cats if I tune it right?

What's up?

I'm in the process of working out pretty much the same things you are for my '94 Camaro. If you are going with a Gen1, i'd look at the MSD low profile w/ crab type cap to clear the cowl. that should fit and with only a little bit of cutting possibly. there are a few differences though since i'll be running a carb setup(full race).

As for your tuning, well I guess anything would be possible. The DFI would allow you to run an "emmissions only" program to help you pass, but i would only run it for the emmissions test so as not to hurt the motor. but then again, you may not need it.

Hope this helps a bit.

I've had a Gen1 in my car for a few years now.
406 Dart block, carb.

Hey Dave....

Nice car!!! Can you do me a favor? Can you post up some pics or links so that I can see how far back the carb ends up by the cowl? Thanks a ton!!

Chris, I don't have any real good pics. I just don't take that many. I have no use for them and I'm not one to flash my stuff all around like some people that have to take pics of every little thing. If you email me I can send you a few of when it was just getting done. Maybe those will help?
You WILL have to cut the cowl some, more if you want an air breather on there, and you WILL need a cowl hood of some type.
