Electric or Mechanical Fuel Pump???
Hi, I have a ’69 Camaro stroker and 650 Demon with 3/8th fuel line I’m trying to decide what type of fuel pump to use, electric or mechanical?
Mechanical is more reliable and cheaper and easier.
Electric allows for more security, does not run off engine directly, and many people seem to be using this, why?
Both will feed my 400-450hp engine fine but I do not know which to go with…
Opinions???

Re: Electric or Mechanical Fuel Pump???
Mechanical will work fine. You won't need an electric until your running out of fuel under wot. Your probably not getting responses because this really isnt an advanced topic. Do a search in the drag racing forum. I am sure you will find plenty of good reading there about fuel pumps, volume vs. pressure, etc.

Here's the thing...
Mechanical pumps are better at pulling and electric pumps are better at pushing.
As a practical matter, your best bet would probably be an aftermarket mechanical in the stock location. No need to go electric unless there is a compelling reason beyond what you've mentioned.
