It might be the AFR's. I've heard a few people mention this issue with the intake not seating all the way down on some AFR castings... can't remember the details though.

On a side note, I've considered drilling/tapping a plug over the oil pump idler in a similar way... although my lazy butt gave up on the idea and just decided to get an accumulator instead.

Hogan set my distributor up for a standard 9" deck height. Everything lines up perfect on my car, intake to heads, distributor to intake, but my deck height seems to be a little higher then normal. The piece of aluminum they welded on has to be cut 3/8" so I can move that collar down to get a clamp on there. The end result will be, kind of what chris said, 1/4" high collar welded to the intake for the mating of the distributor. Roughly anything higher will not work.

Yeah I will agree that oil pump driveshaft is a PITA to line up!

Everything is done and working! I must say the car has never ran better! The first thing I noticed is there is no longer un-burnt fuel running through the exhaust, which in the past caused a poping noise on the decel. Cruising through the gears the motor revs very smooth. It almost feels like the motor went through a overhaul and things were changed such as the cam.

Obviously out of the three ignition setups that I had this is the best. If you have an aftermarket computer and are able to perform this mod I wouldn't think twice.

I have been trying to tell people that.
The distributor mod and aftermarket computer is the way to go with these cars.
