Which cylinders to join in 4-2-1 header systems?

On a SBC, or LS1 firing order, which cylinders would you want paired together first, and why?

What would determine where to start the 4-2 merge? How about the 2-1?

Another reason to read "Scientific Design of Exhaust and Intake Systems" as was brought up in a recent thread.

The Myth: Resonance Tuning vs. BackPressure

Pair cylinders which fire 180 degrees from each other (on a 4 or 8 cylinder). See another recent thread for firing orders.

Lunati "4/7" cams

As to lengths, there is lots involved. Study the book for some insight.
