Sound like it's easier to change blocks to standard sbc.Might be cheaper to.I have a 396 lt-1 to build in a month or so.the guy whats it's around 700 fwhp.I am checking out heads for it now any suggestions. If this a gen1 I would just throw some brodix track 1 on it.

Wouldn't it just be cheaper to buy a set of trick flows or ported LT4's? I mean how much more flow are you going to need over a set of fully ported heads? If the conversion costs 500-1000, then you have to change the intake bolts, then the exhaust, that seems like a lot of work unless you are building some crazy 8 second car, you could spend that on some crazy ported LT1/4 heads and be easier. I am not flaming anyone, I'm just asking.. WHY?

The real reason I;m trying to find out about this is because the castings on a SBC head are alot better than an LT1/LT4 head. I think if I could use a Brodix or something like that I would get much better numbers over the other heads wich is what I'm really after. They could be ported to a much larger volume and with a Joe O. cam I think this would be awesome. I don't think it's really gonna cost $500-$1000 to do the conversion. I was doing some reading on other posts and it sounds like it can be done for arond $200-$300. Well worth the advantages if you ask me.

if its only 200-300 that's a different story.

Note my previous post that there is no exhaust modding unless you get a spread port design. It's not that complicated really. And lets see, Nate's Brodix -10s flow about 20+cfm more than the best ported afr (210,220,215RR) I've seen @.400, let alone other lift points. When your talking n/a power, 20+cfm is huge.
