Is there an equation for figuring compression ratio? Thanks in advance.

what do you mean by that? i meant no harm in my post!

ill break it down for you hawk...the last time i quoted fred, people didnt find the humor in it, couple people got upset or whatever. i was only joking and never meant to make anyone mad. this time i just happened to run across a thread like this one and saw a post by fred that answered this question pretty good. so i copy/pasted it thinking everything would be okay!

the "but not about baxter this time!" part was me joking about the last time i quoted him...meaning i learned my lesson from it!

sometimes its so hard to interpret the meaning of someones post...alot easier in person, huh?

In a physical sense, CR is the ratio of the volume above the piston crown and top ring at BDC to the volume above them at TDC. The calculator simply calculates these volumes and creates the ratio. Most calculators ignore the volume above the top ring as it is so small.
