Camshaft Question

Okay, let's say you've hit the magic dynamic compression wall of 9:1, and you still have more room in the heads to make more power, but you need to bleed off some pressure to avoid detonation. If keeping VE as high as possible is the priority, which of these variables would you play with in the cam specs: grind in more overlap, or increase exhaust lobe duration? Why?

Re: Camshaft Question

Yep, and the wall might be lower than 9:1 in most setups as well.

Can you elaborate on this please? Why would one engine have a lower DCR tolerance than another? What factors would need to be changed to raise that tolerance?

Re: Camshaft Question

In reguards to cooling. What radiator is most people using with very high HP and 8-9:1 DCR's? This is in 93-97 F bodies with a LT engine type.

The better the VE of the motor, atmospheric conditions, chamber shapes there is a lot that goes into it especially to be 100% detonation proof.

LOL!

"Most people can't think, most of the remainder won't think, the small fraction who do think mostly can't do it very well. The extremely tiny fraction who think regularly, accurately, creatively, and without self-delusion- in the long run, these are the only people who count." --- Robert Heinlein
