question. I decided to use the 10 and 2 mentioned earlier. Its from a book specific to LT/4.

But how deep do you put these?.. if I make the front flush then the back aint flush.. its only this way with #1 and #5.. the center ones line up perfectly.. the one uner the thrust bearing (#5) has like 1/2 and inch area on either side I can move. do I just need to try to line the hold up as close as I can on each end.

wow. I can see I have that one pushed in way to far!.. I need to push it back out.. I didnt even notice until I seen it on camera.. that flash really helps.. I will be taking pictures for myslef when I think they are perfect!.. but still number 5 has so much free room.

With #5, make sure you leave enough room for the rear plug that goes back in. And don't go too deep the the plug, either. You don't want it hitting the cam!

I could just barley see the mark of where the old one was, I just lined it up!.. I think it will work fine. I got the rear plug in.

Thanks

BUT. check this out. here is someons take on it:

The front #1 cam bearing on the LT1 should have the oil holes at 1 and 5 O'clock. The engine is upside down here so you see the holes at 7 and 11 O'clock.

and that same person says:

"Cam bearing installation: I draw on the bearing to help with proper oil hole alignment. This is bearing #5 and it needs to have the oil hole at 12 O'clock."

The same as alldata told me

i know. but the point is that there is 2 sources here that say one things (and match), and one source that says somehting diffrent.. Guess it reall is not that important. I just went with what the How To Rebuilt Lt1/4 said.. Maybe people have used that book with no problems.
