Belt Drive on a LT1
Belt Drive on a LT1
would like to know if a jesel or comp cams belt drive will fit and work on a LT1 motor. If it's just minor machine work or a PITA. going to run a carb motor so no need for the opti. Not sure if this is advanced or not but if it is you'll just move me anyway. Thank you.
I have an electric water pump now. SLEEPERZ28 what do you mean buy getting a sbc? I want to put this on my LT1?
ONEFLYN95Z28 that's what I thought would be the biggest problem, was the backing plate. The water pump should be no problem.
ZTURBO I'll check out there site if they have one and see what's up.
Thank you all.
P.S.
Anybody else have an idea if this will work?

LT1 Motorsports site..
I almost had a motor built by Brian but I just prefered another source. I never really went into detail looking what it took to work but i dont think it would be that hard to make work. There is a few pics in the ss396 area of his motor with the belt drive on it looks like he added a little piece above the belt drive to cover over the rest.

Im pretty sure the bottom bolts are the same for the SBC cover, you just have to fabricate a plate to cover the missing space up top. The SBC cover is "shorter", and you need to add alittle length up top, with a small plate. Drill it out, add some bolts...and you are home free!

Zturbo:I checked out the site and yes they do have some pics with the belt drive on it. I sent Brian an e-mail.
Cmarsh93z:Thanks for the info.
Now to see what I can do for a lower alt. mount with the motor plate I have.
