Anyone using DFI, FAST, MoTec ... HELP
I have finished a complete custom installation of my Gen VII DFI. All of the gauges work, including speedo, exept I can't get the tach to work. When I hook the DFI up to the factory wire for the tach it grounds the system and the car won't start.
It's probably something simple but I'm at my wits end. Is there a factory tach filter I need to disable? Where is it? Do I need a tach adapter? Can anyone answer this?
I don't really want to use a monster tach if I can help it.
TIA

Are you running any type of ignition box? I just did a Gen VII install on a friends car and the tach wire does not hook anywhere on the Gen VII harness; it hooks to the aftermarket box itself, green wire on the Accel box, spade terminal on a MSD 6AL. This install is on an older Camaro than yours though.

I was using a Crane HI6, but it is not currently wired in. Do you think I should utilize it?
I think the same thing will happen if I wire the tach to the green Crane wire. The stock PCM just doesn't seem to recognize the signal, and it grounds itself. The tach terminal on the DFI harness looks exactly like that on the Crane box.
Thanks for the reply!
