any one use the stock k member with BBC

I'm in the process of installing a 430 CID aluminum head BBC in a 95, had engine had car don't have time. anyone use the stock k member with the BBC? I have a 6 cyl and a lt1 k member. Does ether have an advantage? Or what needs to be trimmed and where? have been doing searches for about 6 months some nice cars most with pictures most with aftermarket k members.

Thanks in advance Kidd

Search on here and LS1Tech for cwaldt. He did the swap on the cheap originally using the stock k-member and then later switched to the BMR piece. I know he had to fab up brackets for it to work. Personally I just bought the BMR piece, it makes things so much easier IMO.

No, Brady at Team ***** Racing and Cwaldt are the ones that probably have the most info since they have done and completed theirs. I'm about to finish mine up once I get my BS3/RacePak but that could take a month or so to save up for that kinda cash, lol.

My 11 year old son and myself put mine in last week to see what I need to do. So far we striped the havc, and airbag, abs. trimmed the cowl but left the wiper. the engine is hanging form over head hoist I looked at the 6 cyl kmember first them put in a lt1 kmember just to look at frame mounts. I'm not going to purchase a tubular one yet, funding my new trans for the 94. I have a old set of hooker headers for 69 chevelle tried the pass side looks like a lot of interference in the frame?or side wall below the hvac.

last night I was looking on ls1tec at a ta with 496 bbc with a tubular k member the engine was very low, possibly aftermarket rack.
I will cut the 6 cyl kmember up and lower the rack as much as i can?,cut the center out lower and re plate and trim the sides. right now the rack and sides are the interference. unless I trim out some firewall and frame

ulakovic22 what did you trim or beat for header clearance with the bmr? that is still an option just $$$$ is tight always

You get alot more header clearance with the k-member.

Keep everyone updayed I plan on doing this swap in the next few years.

I have seen it done on alot of cars.......the most recent was really top notch fabrication work. I will try and get some pics next time I see it. And they did not cut the cowling, its a single carb dominator and the rear touched the cowling. I know the headers were custom made, not sure about the k-member......but the valve covers are level with the shock towers if that helps at all.....

Also it has motor plates

going to use the 6 cyl kmember for now

the center section weighed 15#
44# total 42.5# after cutting and welding
this will or should allow me to see what modifications I have to do to the firewall and side of the engine compartment. I'm dropping the rack 2" and tilting it back about 20*
where I wanted to set the engine hit the rack only
sorry for the small pictures I need another sight to host the pictures

not exactly a beauty queen , when I'm finished with the install I will tear down and repaint everything

right now I have been working on the motor mounts passenger side is easy ,the drivers side is going to have to go around the steering shaft
the headers fit perfect now no dents yet and doesn't look like I will
Ive had the kmember out and in at least 6 times

time at work is 65 for me but here I get to spend it with my sons and can walk off for a month or two, boy Id love to do that at work

Iv had everything except for the headers and this new intake
even have a 12 gal fuel cell and two electric pumps regulators and fuel line braided hose

everything is like 14 years old. the engine was built for a 68 camaro bbc to run nos , I bought everything then sent it to a machine shop to blueprint. a dude up the road offered me too much for the car and I bought an engagement ring end end end of racing for 13 years
my sons are old enough to help and have fun learning too

and yea IM still married
