Lightbulb Amount of rubber needed for 700HP From an Lt1 Z-28 convert.

I was always wondering how much rubber is actually needed to eliminate peeling out with about 650-700 HP in a 95 camaro z-28 convertible. I figured weight of the vehicle and total amount of rubber touching the ground determines what is needed. There must be some kind of mathematical equation that can translate out to exact rim/tire combinations to have a surefire way of not peeling out from a dead stop and slamming a Z with a power adder.

Any thoughts you brainiacs?

Suspension setup is more important than tire size. There are cars running in the 7's on a 10" tire.

Steve is right, just look at the 10.5 Outlaw guys with 1600+ hp. Suspension is everything in the 1320

Edit: That said, I don't care how much rubber you have, with 700hp (more importantly the torque you will most likely have) you should be able to "burn 'em down"....just learn how to drive

I can "hook up" hard on a 255mm bfg drag ......I can also spin the same tires at 80mph if Im being a dumbass about it...

suspension and drive are key, and knowing the car

When I see the term "peeling out".... I somehow feel the question is directed toward "street" driving, in which case there isn't a whole lot you can do for traction at those levels. But rather than ASSume, what kind of situation are you talking about.... track or street? I've seen a 1,350HP 30th SS convertible dead hook on a well prepped track with 1.30 60-fts. But I saw the same car smoke the tires on the street when it was only running 750HP.

Is that 600-700 flywheel HP or rwHP? What tranny? What gears? What does your "Full Race Suspension" consist of? Are you talking about rubber for your "chrome rims".... if so, what size are they? Are you prepared to mini-tub or at least radius the wheel openings? Do the tires need to be suitable for wet driving or any cornering applications?

I'm putting about 750 to the wheels (about 650 at altitude) and still only have 29.5 x 10.5 tires. I'm also using a powerglide and 4.56 gears which produces a softer hit.
