AFR Heads Valve Seals

AFR Heads Valve Seals
This is the 99th time I've had to replace the valve seas on my AFR's. These things use those rubber valve seals with the bands and they are crap. They come loose all to easily. Does anyone know of a valve seal that's better reccomended for AFR heads? I can't be the only one.

At the risk of stating the obvious: also make sure the seal ID is correct for the valve stem, typically 0.3415" (nominal 11/32") on a SBC. Also, depending what springs you are using, interference between the OD of the seal and the ID of the spring can be an issue.
Lots of people sell seals in the correct dimensions. I am using Manley pn 24045. These look suspiciously like many other brands - I suspect the same factory is making all of them. I can't remember if I had to machine down the OD of the valve guide or not. Measure, as was already said.

I'm willing to bet... when I pulled the seals I replaced them with new seals direct from AFR. thier PT# 6611 valve stem seals... the specs on the heads say PT# 6612 which are the LS1 seals, but they are actually the6611's" .530 11/32 that come on there...interesting enough. when I pulled the seals even the ones that did not come loose and were on pretty tight had oil underneath of them when I checked.
Thanks for all the help guys time bring out the tools and the ordering catalog.

I'm thinking about trying these valve seals... do any Guru's on here think they would be a problem? hate to find out the hard way.

The funny thing about all of this is that I still haven't ran through emissions yet. The cam lobe is bad enough... but I don't think I'll sneak by with clouds of smoke pouring from my exhaust.

So the part number #MAN-24045-8. Manley is a good brand, I think I will get these. So Have you got blue smoke problem as mine right?
My car burned 1 liter in 300 miles! I hope the only problem is these valve seal, not my piston rings also.

hahah well... I still have the blue smoke... I was also leaking oil from my intake also . But my valves are oil free. No oil leaking past the seals this time. The notable difference in the Manleys VS. The AFR's is that the Manley's don't flex like the rubber AFRs do... so when the valve is going up and down, they do thier job better.
