AFR or Brodix

90 Vette, building a 406.

AFR 210 (or 220) or Brodix 18 degree heads? With the brodies you can run standard 23 degree valvetrain stuff.

The cam will be matched to whatever heads I get. Stock 2 bolt block with Eagle 5.7 rods, SRP pistons, etc.

Local racer offered me a really good deal on some used Weldtec Brodix 12 heads. But these heads are overkill from what I have gathered.

Thanks

Lance

Ok, stock 2 bolt block? You gotta start rethinking the build or just dial it WAY back on heads.

You are missing out on some other good head choices by not looking places other than AFR and Brodix IMHO.

Re: AFR or Brodix

Yea, its a 2 bolt, stock 406 crank. Nothing real serious. Something better than that L98. I would like to use converted carb or LT1 intake. The L98 intake (edlebrock base + Lingenfelter runners) ran out of breath on the stock engine with ZZ3 cam and Trick Flow heads.

I thought the AFR 210/220's were the head of choice for this type of motor.

Thanks for the input

What's it used for? This sounds not very advanced tech. Street/Strip guess would be to do some 210's and a vic jr converted. Edelbrock sells the EFI converted Vic jr intake I believe. Might even have the throttle body, fuel rails, etc with it.

Either way, the words WeldTech and 2 bolt main don't belong in the same post.

Second that motion, was sold on AFR 215s on my Aug setup but have reconsidered some other options for the goals I've targeted on my build.

2 bolt 400 blocks are stronger than 4 bolt 400 blocks I believe. Kinda backwards sounding, but it seems like that is the case.

gotcha...I wasn't thinking that far ahead

I was just thinking about stock 2 bolts compared to stock 4 bolts. Continue the advanced tech discussion

afr 227's with about 600 lift should do the trick

Intended use is all around. Joined NASA in Florida. Would like to do road race venues for fun. Fun car to drive on the weekend. That sort of thing.
