If that is aimed toward me, I didn't report this thread as being in the wrong forum because it didn't seem to have a clear place in any other forum. The RR/AC forum deals with suspension issues much better than the DR forum does IMO, but with NHRA/IRHA specific questions it may be better served in DR.

I participated in the discussion since I felt I could add something to the thread.

I report misguided threads because I know the moderators cannot be in all places at all times, and do the same in other forums as well. This forum seems to have the biggest problem of misplaced topics however. If I shouldn't be reporting them, please let me know and I'll stop -- my intent was not to make matters worse for the moderators who already have a hard enough job dealing with the pissed off members who think their posts belong in advanced tech.

Eric -- my post was dealing strictly with stiction and didn't touch on the subject of multi-axis deflection.

Curt:

Maybe I was just having a bad day, but instead of helping people by responding to posts, I'm spending most of my time lately moving posts. In the last two days, there is a string of 22 posts, and among them 14 have been moved. When I move one that obviously doesn't belong here, this is what I get:

your attitude

I'm not an expert which is why I posted it, do you have to get so excited about it sheesh. You have a demeaning way of going about your moving posts around. You could have moved it and made a suggestion, that's how people learn.

Fred,
please accept my apologies. I have great respect for you and your knowledge so please don't let my insignificant tirades be of notice.

I have posted this question in the past in the DR section. Specifically, I was asking about stock-class racers and what tricks they employ for traction on small tires with 'stock' parts. The replies were few and not very informative.

It matters not though... I'm not a moron and I can figure some, if not most, of this stuff out eventually. I'd hoped someone (a couple did) shed some light on what the stock racers may be doing. I don't know any of the guys running 3rd-4th gens in stock and I rarely make it to a divisional/national to see them (been about 6 years).

Unfortunately, this board has been less and less useful as time goes by and I am not certain of the cause. I do search for topics before posting, try to be careful about what I say and generally am not causing trouble.... Not sure what was so wrong with my post that caused a backlash and folks to air their issues with erronously-placed questions, but I'd ask Fred to delete this so we can speak of it no more....

Good day folks. May your plugs burn clean and the oil pressure be stable....

Well, at least in my application, stiction is a non-issue if multi-axis deflection is not dealt with first. I can trim all the bushings and throw all the lube on them that I want, but if the compliance isn't there, my rear axle is going to resist movement.

With regards to what car and what type of racing this topic applies to, I'm having difficulty thinking of any of our beloved GM products that this doesn't apply to (certain OEMs, like Honda, incorporate significantly more sophistication into their designs), and I don't know of any form of racing that should be disregarding this issue, at least if a detail-oriented approach is taken. Plus, I think that custom fabrication of suspension components should be considered "advanced" on this forum. No disrespect intended towards the mods of this forum, though - it's gotta be a tough job, and I think you guys do it well.
