4.0 crank in an LT1

I'm thinking 4.0 crank, with 5.85 rods, and a 1.15 compression height... Anybody made this happen before? What kind of clearancing did you run into? I'm mainly thinking cam clearancing... Any issues?

Thanks
Chuck

You'd need a small base circle cam, Mark Montalvo has setup cars with big stroke before, VPREATR is his member name if I recall.

You can buy a 409ci short block from Combination Motorsports .

Mark Montalvo has done two versions of an LT1 421ci engine, one was a 4.00 x 4.090, and the other was a 4.125 x 4.030. A search might turn up a link, or search for posts by "jimlab"... I think Mark is building his engine (not a 4.00 stroke).

Actually, I think Mark's latest dyno-fresh supercharged 421 is for sale, along with the Motec engine management. It made somewhere around 1,100 horsies, if I remember correctly, and the price he mentioned was very nice.

Fred's right, Mark is the guy to talk to about big stroke LT1s.

Well, I just needed to know that it can be done (mainly worried about the cam area).... I can handle doing all the work.

Thanks
