. 99% of the time, from the machinists viewpoint, they are right and you are wrong- period. It is egotistical but a fairly accurate generalization. I would just eat the cost and move on.

I guess, I would always put up a small fight, I mean he|| not even asking for the cam to assmeble a motor, what kind of crap is that, all shops that I have used include degreeing a cam in motor assembly, even tho it isnt easy to do on the LT1, they still do it, and drill and use an offset bushing to get it dead nuts on.

I would say most times the problem is the rods. What should be done is to fix the rods to make them clear. This is why you should bring the cam with the rest of the parts and have it thrown together. The second thing I put in a block is the cam.... crank, cam, #1 piston without rings and then the Timing Chain. Then start checking the rod to cam clearance and go from there.
