Worth Fixing?

I have a chance to get a 1984 auto camaro that has a 350 crate motor in it the motor itself only has 15000 miles on it. all this for only 500$. The only problem is that it needs a fly wheel, the steering column is broken, and needs an ignition switch. So would it be worth fixing? It seems like a good deal...this will be my first comaro. the only real thing is the automatic part that has me confused on whether or not to buy it. Would i be able to get some decent times at the track with an auto? and will and auto really affect my performance that much? and how hard is it to repalce the steering column, im not to worried about the ignition switch or the flywheel. thanx in advance for your help

Unless you are consistent, you will get better times at the track with an auto.

The flywheel is a 4 hourish job, the rest is easy. A long weekend to get everything you list fixed.

yea sounds like a good deal its better then getting one for wut there going for everywhere else( like 2500$-5000$ )

for 500$ its worth the fix plus if its a create motor it should run good with a few parts even if it is auto....

Re: Worth Fixing?

the hardest part about replacing the steering column is probably finding one
other than that, u remove the 3 bolts against the firewall the 2 bolts under the dash, all electrical connections and oine bolt on the shaft under the hood. it'll slide right out

if u replace the steering column, do u need to worry about the ignition switch anymore?

and what is wrong with the flexplate that it needs to be replaced?

in my opinion, definately worth it for 500 bucks
