wiring the TCC

I've been reading around on the 'net here and it sounds like a bad idea to run my 85 z without the TCC working. I read that theres kits to wire-in so it will work off the brake pedal, but they all seem way overpriced ($50 for a handful of wire and blade connectors). So I was wondering if anyone could tell me which wire I need to apply the 12v to, to make the TCC turn on. I was thinking I could have a master switch (inside the car) to let it powerup or not turn on, and another to kill power when the brakes are pressed. Or is this a bad idea?
Thanks in advance

B&M and TCI sell kits that activate the TCC. i bought the TCI kit (~$80) that uses manifold vacuum to determine engine load and when to energize/de-energize the TCC. the B&M kit (~$160) uses vehicle speed (and maybe manifold vacuum, i dont know, summit catalog not the detailed) to activate the TCC.

the following is a link to TCI's lock up kit instructions, i think it should answer your questions:

specifically, this diagram:
