Wiring SUCKS

well i went down to TGR today to get some info on LT1 swaps...o boy. i talked to fred, the owner, and he said id not only need to get the PCM reprogrammed but either spend forever figuring the stock wiring harness to make it work or buy a $600-750 custom harness!!!!!! i cant go spendin that kind of cash. itd be nice though, plug in turn the key. anyone have any ideas. i can get a hold of a wiring diagram for both my car and the donor car.

What year motor do you have and are you using a T56? If it's a 94-95 motor and T56 then you need the cheaper harness...somewhere around $370 or so. If you are using a 4l60e, then you'll need the more expensive harness. Call Painless and ask them what harness you should get.

Don't get a painless.
If you decide on aftermarket harness, go with the one from Speartech. That is the one we are using on one of our swaps and it's a very simple hookup. They can even program the ECM for you too.

I am going to re-wire the Caprice LT1 harness for my car, shouldn't be too difficult.

if i get this right then i can just send Speartech the stock harness and have them rework it for $400 compared to a new harness for 600? if im right then thats what ill do....if i cant find a cheaper alternative.
