wiring problems...
i have a 89 camaro rs, 305 throttle body. 65,000 miles on body, motor has 50,000 miles on it suppositly. bought the car a few months back. i can tell it was put in my a shade tree mechanic. it ran but not well. i replaced the coil, distributor, set the timing, it it runs like a top. concern i have it seems the wiring is messed up. i have no temp. gauge function at all. replaced both sensors. rad. fan was hooked 2 a toggle swith in car straight 2 the battery, which is fine, but if you wire it up like it should be nothing there. whiper moter doesn't run nor does the blower moter. the blower motor will run if you run the rad. fan straight 2 the battery? why i donot know. i have noticed 4 the engine ground behind the drivers side valve cover there is 2 wires connected on one connector, and a single wire , all grounded there. there is a bare hot wire(black) with the same length (like it should be a ground wire) laying by the ground wires. i have checked everywhere for the other end of it but found nothing. could it be a ground wire that is wired wroung somewhere? it is hot when the ignition is on. this morning i was going 2 wire up a new temp gauge and oil pressure gauge but need 2 figure this out first. any ideas? thanks...
Re: wiring problems...
The best suggestion I can make is to find a GM/Helms shop manual for your car, and then study the wiring diagrams and routing diagrams and determine what isn't connected properly. It's probably not all that difficult, with the proper background research, but without the benefit of a good wiring diagram you're goign to have your hands full.
