Yeah, they'll work. As far as Vortecs, I've only ever read about 906 and 062 castings..I don't know about 193's. And being milled .020 should be good for your 305. Stock 350 heads throw a 305's compression down the crapper. Don't forget you'll need a Vortec style intake. Edelbrock, Scoggin-Dickey, and GMPP all make manifolds. You're running carb? I'd go with the Edelbrock RPM Air-gap, I've read good stuff about that over at TGO.

I wouldn't buy from anyone who uses LT1 and TPI to describe the same engine.

Those are not 96+ Vortec heads. Those are 87-95 TBI truck heads. Notice the 6 bolt holes instead of 4? Yes, they will bolt up to your 305, but they have larger combustion chambers, so you will lose compression. No, I dont think its worth it to buy those heads. Stick with what you have until you upgrade to a 350 engine.

Those are not vortec heads.
They are 87 and up heads with 1.94 - 1.50 valves.
They are the same TBI truck heads that came on the 1989 5.7L core I bought a while ago to build my 383.
They would make a nice truck engine.
I think they have 72cc chambes (before they were miled).
I saw some new 193 casting made by pro top line a week or 2 ago on ebay, so they must be good enough for people to want new 193 castings.

The 193 TBI heads have 64cc combustion chambers.

I don't know if they are exact "clones" because they list as being 76cc chamber sizes when alot on people on this board say they are 64cc heads.

I ran a bone stock (w/Z28 springs) set of GM 193's on a 383 stroker with stock L98 roller cam, performer intake, CC-Q-jet, and Edelbrock Headers.

The Camaro ran 14.8's with rock hard BFG's, open 2.73 rear, and a slipping 700 R-4.

Not too bad, I am considering using another set in a 383 stroker for my '86 K5 Blazer 4x4. It has headers too, along with 4.11 gears, posi, and 33" A/T tires........should be interesting if I quarter mile it someday.
