Post will a comp cam 305 from an LT1 work in a L98 TPI

I have a CC 305 for an LT1 that I wont be using and was wondering if it would work in my 350 TPI engine?

It will physically fit if you push in the dowel pin, but the cam is the wrong power range for a L98 with a long tube runner intake. That cam will make power all the way up to 6500RPM, but the stock TPI induction components will limit airflow and crap out at 5000rpm. Not a worthy mod in my opinion. I would sell the cam and buy something more suited for the L98.

You cant push in the dowel pin, you need to cut it to the correct length.

You're right in saying that cam is too big for a stock TPI car. But for one with great heads and an upgraded intake manifold, it'll work nicely.

Why does it have a dowel pin didn't most LT1 up til '96 not require a dowel pin. But from what ive seen and read the CC 305 will work fine in an L98. However like someone said things will have to change. LTR blows, you will need and aftermarket intake, Super, Mini, Stealth Rams, or LT1, They all can breathe to atleast 6500RPM. Also you have to replace the springs. and i seriously hope you have some work done to those L98 heads!!
