There are literally hundreds of cam options out there, but stock LT1 cams work pretty well on 305 TBIs :

What mods are done to the car now? Try to keep the cam on the small side if you've still got stock TBI, heads, converter and gears.

When you make a choice get me the part number. I can get comp, lunati, isky, crane, GM and just about any others.

www.jegs.com, www.summitracing.com, www.thunderraccing.com

A nice cam for the 305TBI is the stock LT1 cam from the 93-97 Trans Am/Z28.
Should be able to pick one up for about $50.

Good advice. Getting the exhaust upgraded if stock would be a good thing regardless of any other modifications.

Having said that, another cam to consider is the ZZ4. You can get take-off cams from eBay fairly reasonable, used even less.

Re: Where can I get a cam for my 89 RS???

i have a cam out of a 89 corvette 350 L98...i'm not sure what the specs are, and not sure if its comparable to a stock LT1, but the engines make around the same horsepower. I had one person interested in it, but he said he sent the check like 2 weeks ago and i still haven't seen it or a response. So i'll sell it for like 40 bucks shipped if you want it..only has 10,000 miles on it, perfect condition....pm me if your interested...

Re: Where can I get a cam for my 89 RS???

ZZ4 cam has .474/.510 lift, that is way too much for stock valve springs. You need to stay under .460 lift, and preferably change the valve springs when you change the cam.

An '89 L98 cam is 207/213 with .415/.430 lift. An LT1 cam is about 203/207 with .450/.460 lift, depending on year.

Re: Where can I get a cam for my 89 RS???

what about just getting some roller rockers? that won't increase duration but it'll give ya bit more lift. You can figure it out and maybe you could just get some 1.6 RR's or something...that would be easier than a camshaft swap, unless the motor is already out or something...doesn't get muhc easier than that...
