What's involved in and LS1/LT1 swap?

Im still trying to save the money for an LS1/LT1 to swap w/ my LB9. What would be some of the other expenses involved in swapping the engines? Which would be easier, and by easier, I guess I mean less expensive. By the way, Im in the market for one of the engines, so if you are selling or perhaps know someone, let me know. Thanks.

Go in the parts for sale section. You can find some engine/tranny combos with both A4 and M6 trans. If you're deciding between LT1 and LS1, go with the 346 cubic inches, more potential for power and you start out ahead of the game

The LT1 is very much like the SBC 350 so its a little easier to swap it in. I've never done the swap myself so my knowledge is 2nd hand but I've heard that the LT1 has a lot less swapping issues. The LS1 has a lot more potential and duribility, however, plus if you later want to go to a LS2 or 7 it will be a direct swap.

Re: What's involved in and LS1/LT1 swap?

I'm thinking about doing the exact same thing, I've found several clean cars in the $5,000-$6,000 dollar range I could use, and I'm planning on about $7500 for suspension, brakes, a bulletproof 6 speed, a 9", a cam package, and some other odds and ends. I already have an LQ9 I am going to use, along with an LS6 intake and the necessary f-body oil pan. What about a fuel system? My 99 SS uses a plastic fuel tank, given that the rear suspension is the same should the fuel system, aside from the lines be a pretty direct swap? And where can you buy a ready made K-member? Thanks! -Mike
