Trick flow heads

I was looking at these heads for my friends 305. I was wondering if they would be a direct bolt on, and if they would add maybe 20 hp or more over the TPI heads. TFS-30300005 thats a summit part number. I hope they are direct bolt on, i know they retain the same compression as stock.

Re: Trick flow heads

heres my take for what its worth,is cam stock ?if so u might be ok but call trick flow, theyre great over there.the prob with a 305 is the smaller bore.sometimes with a larger cam theres not enough room for the valves to clear the cylinder walls.this is one reason folk dont build 305s,mainly they would have to notch cylinders...call them, but to be honest if your looking for a meer 20 hp dont buy them.the heads alone are what 1050 w/o shipping, throw in gasket and a few other odds and ends to swap heads your close to 1400-1500 bucks and for 20 hp?????heck a nos kit is less than half that and u can get 100 plus horse...if your doing a complete build up sure go to it,those are great heads, but if you want to just bolt them on to a used worn stock 305 forget it

Re: Trick flow heads

im sure they will give more then just 20 hp, and he wants to do a 335 kit and a supercharger since he has the car allready and likes it. Also we just raced my buddies 93 Lt1 auto, flowmaster exaust and a chip and 160 stat with a TB bypass. He beats us by 2 cars from a dig. Not bad that we arnt that far behind a Lt1 allready. Im sure those heads are good for about 30 hp over what hes got now.

Re: Trick flow heads

what would u like to know.

the only problem is they are 195cc, prob too big for a small cam 305.

they come in 62/64/72cc. make sure u get the 62cc.

mine are the TFS-30400007, they flowed 260cfm as cast.

Re: Trick flow heads

hell you could probably get 15hp out of 1.6 ratio full roller rocker arms, all for about $500 with springs.

port the hell out of the plenum for another 10hp and maybe $20 in cutting bits.

headers and a cutout for another 15hp....for about $500

new heads on stock cam is a pretty good waste of money i think

flowmaster, a chip? (i hope you mean tuning), 160 stat and a tb bypass are worthless mods as far as power goes. Flowmaster gains you next to nothing, a tune if done right maybe 10, 160 stat and bypass also gain nothing. For all the mods you are doing and you are still behind an LT1, just go buy an LT1 or LS1.

But as for your mods. Instead of buying heads, just port your own. Summit (since you mention them so much) sells a kit you can use with a die grinder. Do 1.6 rocker arms. Honestly I would not waste the money on roller rockers. They do not free up that much power and if you think about it, the whole point is to lessen friction right? Well if there is so much friction there why don't the stock cast non-rollers wear out? because there is hardly any friction there in the first place. Port the plenum, get some headers, like everyone else says, long tubes are better than short tubes, unless you have to deal with emissions. So...

1.6, 3/8" stud, rocker arms: $102.99
Hooker long tube headers, 1-3/4": $409.99
Port Polishing kit: $36.75
987 vavle springs: $84.99

Total: $634.72

All from Jeg's except the port kit.
Add whatever cam you plan on doing to that combonation and you should be close to an LT1
