Transmission swap

How difficult is it to swap the 700-r4 for a 400 turbo. I mean what do I have to do about the tailshaft housing, and the torque brace. Is there anything else that I need to know. Thanks

Is it possible. I'm not a big fan of the 700r4. They sell a installation kit in Jegs, has anyone tried it. What if you use a 350 turbo. Will the Torque brace still work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Isn't the 700R4 the same as a Turbo 350 other than the overdrive?

No, not at all. TH350 way stronger and cheaper. I have done this swap before. You need a TH200C driveshaft from an '82 or '83 Camaro and the B&M (or comparable) swap kit.

Then again when I did this swap I was in high school and it seemed like the thing to do, now I would just beef up the TH700R4. Overdrive is nice.

And the swap kit will take care of mounting the torque brace?

So have the 700 rebuilt stronger. What is the issue there? No need to futz with the adapter kit and lose the overdrive. My 700 is rebuilt to withstand my 383 engine for 3.5 years before it broke when I beat on it twice daily at the least and drive it year round.

Well the deal is that I also am running a 383, that is producing right at 500hp, Plus a 150 shot. The transmission has been built and re-built. All I was doing was asking a question. Will the Kit take care of the torque arm problem. I have already decided to do the swap, and I was just wondering if there was a way to get the torque arm to work, or if we needed to build a Pinion snubber. Thanks.

Yes, that is all the swap kit does is allow you to use the torque arm.
