transmission explosion

started to notice a slipping sound coming from the tranny monday, just from a stop in first. the next day developed to second. the next day hesitation of the tranny was observed. and yesterday a second gear explosion sound dominated my poor 200. so (D) is now a neutral gear from a stop, D works up to 3rd without slipping and if im going fast enough (D) for 4th works until the rpms drop below 1500.

any tips on buying a used tranny.
theres a car at the yard that ran and was burned from the cd player im thinking of getting the OD slush box from.

if you're planning on getting as new trans, don't get a 700R4 thats stock, if u can find a modified 700r4 then yes, but If you want to stay with an automatic I would go with a nice turbo350

YOU DO NOT WANT A TH350 there bad on gas no OD gear. going by your name you have a 2.8 so any V6 700r4 will work for you

700-R4 and 200-4R are both automatic 4 spd transmissions with overdrive.

The 200-4R is mainly closer gear ratios vs. wider ratios with the 700-R4. More people like to build 700-R4s for power from what I've seen though.

so the 200r isnt a 3 speed?
i like the characteristics of the 700r , shift points, milage, top speed...
so i doubt that id be happy with the 200r just to save 200$ cad.$

hmm

i dont understand gear ratios or rear end gears at all.
