Trans Dipstick Issue

after we swapped the th350 into my 87, we had to bend the dipstick a little to get it to fit, and the tab that usually mounts to the transmission didn't line up so we had to cut that off. Anyway, the transmission has started to leak because there's not enough pressure holding the dipstick tube down. I'm guess probably because that tab is gone. Anyway, I can get a new dipstick with no problem. I know some other people have done the th350 swap, how do you get the dipstick to fit correctly without bending it all around?

Re: Trans Dipstick Issue

GM sells a dipstick that will fit, it is supposed to bolt to one of the top header bolts , mine is bent right now too. I was thinking about making a short piece of metal that will connect the dipstick tab to the header bolt, but I guess you cut your tab thing off so the new dipstick is probably the option.

Re: Trans Dipstick Issue

The trans dipstick is suppose to bolt to the motor with the upper pass. side bellhouseing bolt, not a header bolt. If the dipstick tube is seated far enough down in the trans the bracket will be close to lineing up. It will just take some minor turning and tweeking of the dipstick tube and bracket to get it all lined up.
If it lines up with a header bolt then you've got a van dipstick or referring to the motor oil dipstick.
