Question tranny swap

i was just curious if there in any difference in a 700r4 that was
on a V6 than one that was on a V8
i gotta from an 85 V6 and wanna put it in my 81 Z28
i kinda wanna weed out any trouble i may have before i

As far as I know they are different. The bellhousings are not the same.

The bellhousings are different, a V6 tranny won't bolt up to a V8. Probably not strong enough to last long anyway.....

I think they are the same basically. Shift points are a little different maybe and the torque converter is definately different but pretty much it is the same AFAIK

case is different. The V6 and V8 trannies do not use the same bolt pattern
